Team Performance Measurement

Rosen, Michael A., Dietz, Aaron S.·2017·The Wiley Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Team Working and Collaborative Processes

Abstract

This chapter summarizes the existing literature germane to developing a team performance measurement system. It defines key terms and concepts necessary for clearly articulating team performance measurement system design. A number of factors shape the development and implementation of team performance measurement systems. The chapter summarizes team performance measurement system requirements and critical decision points. It also outlines how unobtrusive sensor-based measurement can complement traditional approaches to team performance measurement. Specifically, the chapter focuses on strategies for balancing methods to address four key challenges identified for measuring team performance “in the wild”: Dynamic team membership and task interdependence, physical distribution, and the specificity of expectations for effective teamwork in a given context. These challenges are increasingly present in modern organizations, and provide illustrative examples for balancing measurement methods to develop a robust team performance measurement system.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
