Abstract

We report an experimental determination of the diamagnetic correction to the ${}^{9}$Be${}^{+}$ ground state hyperfine constant $A$. We measured $A$ $=$ $\ensuremath{-}625\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}008\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}837.371(11)$ Hz at a magnetic field $B$ of 4.4609 T. Comparison with previous results, obtained at lower values of $B$ (0.68 T and 0.82 T), yields the diamagnetic shift coefficient $k$ $=$ $2.63(18)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}11}$ T${}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$, where $A(B)={A}_{0}(1+k{B}^{2})$. The zero-field hyperfine constant ${A}_{0}$ is determined to be $\ensuremath{-}625\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}008\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}837.044(12)$ Hz. The $g$-factor ratio ${{g}_{I}}^{\ensuremath{'}}/{g}_{J}$ is determined to be $2.134\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}779\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}852\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}7(10)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, which is equal to the value measured at lower $B$ to within experimental error. Upper limits are placed on some other corrections to the Breit-Rabi formula. The measured value of $k$ agrees with theoretical estimates.

Section III (pp. 9–10) identifies the 321-MHz and 303-MHz transitions at approximately 0.6774 T and 0.8194 T, and says their first derivatives with respect to field are zero near those values. It does not report the claimed residual quadratic sensitivity of approximately 15 Hz/mT². (LLM, conf=0.87)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
