Collectibility for mixed quantum states

Abstract

Bounds analogous to entropic uncertainty relations allow one to design practical tests to detect quantum entanglement by a collective measurement performed on several copies of the state analyzed. This approach, initially worked out for pure states only [Phys. Rev. Lett. 107, 150502 (2011)], is extended here for mixed quantum states. We define collectibility for any mixed states of a multipartite system. Deriving bounds for collectibility for positive partially transposed states of given purity provides insight into the structure of entangled quantum states. In the case of two qubits the application of complementary measurements and coincidence based detections leads to a test of entanglement of pseudopure states.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • The setup applied in this work was also used earlier in Refs.48-51 for conceptually different tasks.

“We note that the setup applied in this work was also used earlier in Refs.48–51, but for conceptually different tasks, e.g., measuring collective nonlinear witnesses of entanglement52,53, Bell nonlocality measure54, or diagnosing an entanglement-swapping protocol.”

Self-check

Percentages, sums and reported differences re-computed from the paper’s own numbers.

The self-check needs the paper’s full text.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
