Abstract

We calculate the tension $\ensuremath{\sigma}$ of the interface between the confined and deconfined phases by the histogram method in SU(3) lattice gauge theory for temporal extents of 4 and 6 using the recent high-statistics data of the QCDPAX Collaboration. The results are $\frac{\ensuremath{\sigma}}{{T}_{c}^{3}}=0.0292(22) \mathrm{and} 0.0218(33)$ for ${N}_{t}=4 \mathrm{and} 6$, respectively. The ratio $\frac{\ensuremath{\sigma}}{{T}_{c}^{3}}$ shows a scaling violation similar to that already observed for the latent heat $L$. However, we find that the physically interesting dimensionless combinations ${(\frac{{\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{3}}{{L}^{2}T})}^{\frac{1}{2}}$ and $\frac{\ensuremath{\sigma}T}{L}$ scale within the statistical errors.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
