Enhanced photon production from quark-gluon plasma: Finite-lifetime effect
Open accessAbstract
Photon production from a thermalized quark-gluon plasma of finite lifetime is studied directly in real time with a nonequilibrium formulation that includes off-shell (energy nonconserving) effects. To lowest order we find that production of direct photons form a quark-gluon plasma of temperature $T\ensuremath{\sim}200 \mathrm{MeV}$ and lifetime $t\ensuremath{\sim}10--20 \mathrm{fm}/c$ is strongly enhanced by off-shell (anti)quark bremsstrahlung $q(\overline{q})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}q(\overline{q})\ensuremath{\gamma}.$ The yield from this nonequilibrium finite-lifetime effect dominates over those obtained from higher order equilibrium rate calculations in the range of energy $E>2 \mathrm{GeV}$ and falls off with a power law for $E\ensuremath{\gg}T.$

An important measure of this collective flow is elliptic flow in collisions with non-vanishing impact parameter (non-central).
“An important measure of this collective flow is elliptic flow [146] in collisions with non-vanishing impact parameter (non-central).”
From Phase Transitions in the Early and Present Universe (2006) · cites this paper as [146]
The paper’s introduction (p. 1) discusses QGP expansion and identifies photons as a proposed experimental signal; its analysis (pp. 3–4) concerns photon yield. Searches for elliptic flow, collective flow, and non-central collisions found no passage addressing elliptic flow as a measure of collective flow. (LLM, conf=0.77)

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
