The testimony of political repression as a therapeutic instrument.
Abstract
The use of testimony--tape-recorded by the therapist and revised jointly by therapist and patient into a written document--as a therapeutic technique with former prisoners and with relatives of prisoners of the Chilean military government is described and evaluated. The testimony, aimed at facilitating integration of the traumatic experience and restoration of self-esteem, was found effective in providing symptomatic relief for certain patients.

Testimony therapy was created by Lira and Weinstein to treat traumatized survivors of the Pinochet regime in Chile and was successfully applied in an uncontrolled trial to Bosnian refugees in the United States.
“we based our approach on testimony therapy, a method of therapy created by Lira and Weinstein (published under the pseudonyms Cienfuegos and Monelli, 1983) to treat traumatized survivors of the Pinochet regime in Chile and successfully applied in an uncontrolled trial to Bosnian refugees in the United States (Weine, Kulenovic, Pavkovic, & Gibbons, 1998).”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
