Abstract

H]-cholesterol efflux from acetylated LDL-loaded RAW264.7 macrophages with an increase in the expression of ATP binding cassette A1/G1 (ABCA1/G1), liver X receptor-α (LXRα) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ). Moreover, transfection of PPARγ siRNA or LXRα siRNA markedly abolished the positive effects of mangiferin on ABCA1/G1 expression and cholesterol efflux. The opposite effects were observed after treatment with PPARγ agonist rosiglitazone or LXRα agonist T0901317. In conclusion, mangiferin may attenuate atherogenesis by promoting cholesterol efflux from macrophages via the PPARγ-LXRα-ABCA1/G1 pathway.

  • Safety reporting is inconsistent, with limited long-term toxicity, immunomodulatory risk, and drug-drug interaction data.

“Furthermore, safety reporting is inconsistent, with limited long-term toxicity, immunomodulatory risk and drug-drug interaction data, and with few studies that stratify patients by sex or age (184,185,190).”

From Mangiferin in human disease: Multifaceted mechanisms and applications (Review) (2026) · cites this paper as [190]

The Discussion reports effects on cholesterol efflux and atherosclerosis, while Materials and Methods describes experiments in male mice; neither section assesses safety reporting across studies. Searches for long-term toxicity, immunomodulatory risk, drug–drug interactions, and sex- or age-stratified patient data found no passage addressing the claim. About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
