Abstract

Article AbstractLetter to the Editor Because this piece does not have an abstract, we have provided for your benefit the first 3 sentences of the full text.To the Editor: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a leading cause of illness-related disability. Identifying more effective treatments with faster onset of action would be a major advance. Medications thought to modulate the glutamate system are promising new agents; for example, open trials of riluzole, memantine, and minocycline as augmentation to serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SRIs) suggest that up to half of OCD patients may experience reductions in symptoms.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • An early randomized controlled trial (n=15) and a case report found ketamine effectively targeted obsessions and compulsions characteristic of OCD, as measured by Y-BOCS.

“An early, randomized, controlled trial (n = 15) and a case report both found that ketamine effectively targeted the obsessions and compulsions characteristic of OCD, as measured by the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) [108,109]”

From Ketamine in neuropsychiatric disorders: an update (2024) · cites this paper as [109]

The Case report describes one patient's obsessions ceasing during ketamine infusion, supporting the case-report portion of the claim. It says changes were assessed with the OCD-VAS, focusing on obsessions rather than compulsions; Y-BOCS was reported only at baseline. This source does not establish that ketamine reduced both obsessions and compulsions as measured by Y-BOCS. (LLM, conf=0.90)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
