Silk‐Derived 2D Porous Carbon Nanosheets with Atomically‐Dispersed Fe‐Nx‐C Sites for Highly Efficient Oxygen Reaction Catalysts
Abstract
Controlled synthesis of highly efficient, stable, and cost‐effective oxygen reaction electrocatalysts with atomically‐dispersed Me–Nx–C active sites through an effective strategy is highly desired for high‐performance energy devices. Herein, based on regenerated silk fibroin dissolved in ferric chloride and zinc chloride aqueous solution, 2D porous carbon nanosheets with atomically‐dispersed Fe–Nx–C active sites and very large specific surface area (≈2105 m 2 g−1) are prepared through a simple thermal treatment process. Owing to the 2D porous structure with large surface area and atomic dispersion of Fe–Nx–C active sites, the as‐prepared silk‐derived carbon nanosheets show superior electrochemical activity toward the oxygen reduction reaction with a half‐wave potential (E1/2) of 0.853 V, remarkable stability with only 11 mV loss in E1/2 after 30 000 cycles, as well as good catalytic activity toward the oxygen evolution reaction. This work provides a practical and effective approach for the synthesis of high‐performance oxygen reaction catalysts towards advanced energy materials.

Silk fabrics can be transformed into highly conductive, intrinsically nitrogen-doped, flexible, and structure-maintained carbon textiles through thermal treatment.
“Recently, it has been reported that silk fabrics can be transformed into highly conductive, intrinsically nitrogen-doped, flexible, and structure-maintained carbon textiles through thermal treatment (30–35).”

The N1s spectrum of SilkNCT can be fitted by four peaks attributed to pyridinic N, pyrrolic N, quaternary or graphitic N, and pyridine N-oxide N, indicating that part of N elements in pristine silk transformed into N substituents in graphitic carbon.
“Figure 1F shows that the N1s spectrum could be fitted by four peaks attributed to the pyridinic N, pyrrolic N, quaternary or graphitic N, and pyridine N-oxide N, respectively, indicating that part of N elements in pristine silk has transformed into N substituents in graphitic carbon (34, 35, 37).”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
