Abstract

Cyanobacteria are oxygenic photoautotrophs that serve as potential platforms for the production of biochemicals from cheap and renewable raw materials - sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide. Systems level analysis of the metabolic network of these organisms could enable the successful engineering of these organisms for the enhanced production of target chemicals. Metabolic modeling techniques including both stoichiometric and kinetic modeling with a genome-wide coverage enable a global assessment of metabolic capabilities. Recent studies guided by such modeling techniques have engineered strains for the enhanced production of valuable chemicals such as ethanol, n-butanol, 1,3-propanediol, glycerol, limonene, and isoprene from CO 2.

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • This approach is especially critical for pathways that demand high levels of pyruvate, acetyl-CoA, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate, ATP, or NADPH.

“This approach is especially critical for pathways that demand high levels of pyruvate, acetyl-CoA, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate, ATP, or NADPH [212].”

From Cyanobacteria as a Photosynthetic Chassis for Metabolic Pathway Engineering with Heterologous Gene Expression (2026) · cites this paper as [212]

The genome-scale metabolic modeling section (p. 5) says models can compare metabolic routes for yield and energetic efficiency, illustrating this with acetyl-CoA synthesis and the ATP cost of n-butanol. It does not say the approach is especially critical for pathways with high demands for the full listed set of pyruvate, acetyl-CoA, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate, ATP, or NADPH. (LLM, conf=0.84)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
