Abstract

The National Dental Practice-Based Research Network is one of the largest and most successful dental PBRNs. In this narrative review, we provide an overview of the network, which is in its third 7-year round of funding and has conducted 58 studies to date with over 8,000 members enrolled. The network provides resources and opportunities to engage clinicians in practice-based participatory research.

The Abstract’s Results report 58 studies across a broad range of topics, and the Methods date the Network’s inception to 2005. However, the 58 include studies still in data collection or development, so the source does not establish that all 58 had been conducted. (LLM, conf=0.88)

The Introduction says the Network has operated since 2005, and the Study Design and Discussion sections document successful recruitment and retention in national studies involving practitioners and patients across several practice types and regions. But the paper evaluates studies from 2012–2019, not consistent success across the full two decades, and it does not establish success with a wide range of study designs. About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
