Abstract

Plasma neurofilament light is a reliable, uniform marker to estimate neuroaxonal injury and forecast all-cause mortality across major stroke types.

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • Plasma GFAP and NfL are not anticipated to serve as FTD-specific diagnostic markers.

“Given that plasma GFAP and NfL are elevated not only in FTD but also in other neurological diseases such as Alzheimer disease [7], stroke [50, 51], and TBI [6], these biomarkers are not anticipated to serve as FTD-specific diagnostic markers.”

From Comprehensive cross-sectional and longitudinal comparisons of plasma glial fibrillary acidic protein and neurofilament light across FTD spectrum disorders (2025) · cites this paper as [50]

The Results section, “Plasma NFL is elevated in patients with ACI, aSAH and ICH” (page unavailable), reports significantly elevated plasma NfL in patients with stroke compared with healthy controls. This supports the stroke-related NfL premise, but the cited paper does not establish the claim about GFAP or whether either biomarker can serve as an FTD-specific diagnostic marker. (LLM, conf=0.84)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
