Assessment of the In Vitro and In Vivo Antifungal Activity of NSC319726 against Candida auris

Abstract

Candida auris is emerging as a major public health threat because of its ability to cause nosocomial outbreaks of severe invasive candidiasis. Management of C. auris infection is difficult because of its frequent multidrug-resistant profile for currently licensed antifungals.

  • None of these changes were observed in the C. auris I.3 strain, which exhibits echinocandin resistance due to the S639F mutation in β-1,3-glucan synthase FKS1.

“None of these changes were observed in the C. auris I.3 strain, which exhibits echinocandin resistance due to the S639F mutation in β-1,3-glucan synthase FKS176.”

From Distinct echinocandin responses of Candida albicans and Candida auris cell walls revealed by solid-state NMR (2025) · cites this paper as [76]

The Results section identifies C. auris I.3 as an echinocandin-resistant isolate. It does not identify an S639F mutation in FKS1 or establish that mutation as the cause of resistance. The cited paper also does not describe the unspecified 'changes' whose absence the sentence attributes to I.3 (page unavailable). (LLM, conf=0.84)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
