Development and validation of the Hwa-Byung Scale
Abstract
화병은 한국 고유의 사회문화적 배경에서 나타나는 특유한 증상양상을 보이며, DSM-IV에 한국의 문화관련 증후군으로 분류되어있다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서 처음으로 화병을 측정하는 자기보고형 검사를 개발하고, 그 심리측정적 속성을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 연구 1에서는 먼저 기존 문헌들을 고찰하고 화병 환자들을 심층 면담하여 화병을 측정하는 예비문항 70개를 작성하였다. 그 다음 화병환자 30명, 우울증 환자 28명, 정상인 33명에게 실시한 후 차이검증을 통해 화병 집단과 정상 집단, 화병 집단과 우울증 집단을 변별해주는 1차 문항 39개를 선정하였다. 연구 2에서는 1차 문항을 2차 표본인 화병 환자 63명에게 실시한 자료를 요인 분석하여 최종적으로 31문항의 화병척도를 제작하였다. 화병 척도의 내적 일치도는 .92로 나타났으며, 화병 성격과 화병 증상 하위 척도의 내적 일치도는 각각 .85, .93으로 적절한 수준으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 최종 화병 척도가 우울증과 화병, 정상 집단을 구별해주는지를 살펴보고, 화병척도가 다른 두 집단을 변별해주는 민감도와 특이도를 평가하였다. 그 결과, 화병 증상척도는 화병 집단과 우울증 집단 간에 유의한 차이를 보인 반면 화병 성격척도는 연구자들이 예상한 바와 달리, 화병 집단과 우울증 집단에 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 화병 증상척도의 AUC는 .78로 나타나 화병 증상척도가 화병에 대한 1차 선별도구로 유용함을 시사하였다. 본 연구의 의의 및 제한점과 후속연구 방향에 대하여 논의하였다.
