Abstract

experiments, Caco-2 cells were treated with tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α)/interferon gamma (IFN-γ) for 48 h, with or without FICZ. AhR activation prevented TNF-α/IFN-γ-induced decrease in TER and morphological disruption of the TJs in Caco-2 monolayers. It also inhibited TNF-α/IFN-γ-induced increase in MLCK expression and MLC phosphorylation by suppression of NF-κB p65 signaling pathway. Thus, AhR-activating factors might have potential as therapeutic agents for the treatment of patients with IBD.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • AhR activation by FICZ was therapeutic in the dextran sodium sulfate-induced mouse colitis model in which FICZ treatment upregulated tight junction protein expression in inflamed mouse colons.

“AhR activation by FICZ was therapeutic in the dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)–induced mouse colitis model in which FICZ treatment upregulated TJ protein expression in inflamed mouse colons.92,93”
  • FICZ prevented a TNF-α/interferon gamma-induced decrease in transepithelial electrical resistance and disruption of tight junction proteins in Caco-2 monolayers.

“In addition, FICZ also prevented a TNF-α/interferon gamma–induced decrease in transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) and disruption of TJ proteins in Caco-2 monolayers.92”

Self-check

Percentages, sums and reported differences re-computed from the paper’s own numbers.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
