The Future of Perinatal Depression Identification: Can Information and Communication Technology Optimize Effectiveness?

Donker, Tara, Cuijpers, Pim, Stanley, David, Danaher, Brian·2015·Identifying Perinatal Depression and Anxiety

Abstract

Because of the possible adverse consequences of untreated perinatal depression on mother, fetus/child, and family, early detection and treatment of perinatal depression are important. Innovative methods now available through information technology may have the potential to further optimize effectiveness of both identification and treatment of perinatal depression and can facilitate the dissemination of therapies among the public, in a way that is convenient, private, and inexpensive. These programs offer a source for population-based approaches to reducing perinatal depression in the community.

This paper’s full text isn’t openly available, so its claims and self-check weren’t run. The registry and citation checks still apply.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • ICTs could be helpful in programs to assess and treat depressive symptoms in the perinatal stage.

“recent research has suggested that the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs; Internet, wireless networks, phones, mobile applications), with their advantage of anonymity, could be of great help in programs to assess and treat depressive symptoms in the perinatal stage (Donker et al., 2015).”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
