Localization of leptin receptor mRNA expression in mouse brain

Huang, X. F., Koutcherov, I., Lin, S., Wang, H. Q., Storlien, L.·1996·NeuroReport

Abstract

The distribution of the leptin receptor in the brain of C57 mice was investigated using a non-radioactive in situ hybridization method. Leptin receptor mRNA expression was highest in the arcuate nucleus and median eminence of the hypothalamus, but it was also abundant in hippocampus, primarily in the dentate gyrus and CA1, and was detected at low levels in piriform cortex and the medial margin of the medial habenular nucleus. The localization of leptin receptor-containing neurones in the present study indicates the possibility that the leptin receptor is expressed on neuropeptide Y-containing neurones.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • Leptin may modulate sensory processing at higher gustatory and olfactory processing steps, as indicated by the presence of leptin receptors and leptin-induced Fos expression in the nucleus of the solitary tract, parabrachial nucleus, olfactory bulb, and insular and piriform cortices of rodents.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
