Abstract

Significant changes have been brought about in society, the economy, and the environment as a result of the quick development of technology and the interconnection of the world. Artificial intelligence has advanced significantly in recent years, which has sparked the creation of ground-breaking technologies like Open AI's ChatGPT. Modern technology like the ChatGPT language model has the potential to revolutionize the educational landscape. This article's goals are to present a thorough analysis of the responsible and ethical usage of ChatGPT in education, as well as to encourage further study and debate on this important subject. The study found that the use of ChatGPT in education requires respect for privacy, fairness and non-discrimination, transparency in the use of ChatGPT, and a few other factors that were included in the paper. To sustain ethics and accountability in the global education sector, it is advised in this study that all these recommendations be carried out.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • Concerns have been raised that ChatGPT may disseminate false information and references, reinforce bias, compromise academic integrity, and cause potential decline in students' skills.

“These include the dissemination of false information and references [12, 23, 61, 85], biased reinforcement [47, 50], compromised academic integrity [18, 40, 66, 74], and the potential decline in students' skills [43, 61, 64, 74].”
  • Concerns have been raised about ethical considerations and decreased reliability of existing examinations in relation to GAI.

“However, concerns have been raised about ethical consideration and decreased reliability of the existing examinations.”
  • The impact of GAI on education is disputed, with studies raising concerns about ethical considerations, evaluation practices, scientific integrity, and potential negative effects on students' higher order thinking skills.

“On the other hand, the impact of GAI on education is disputed [6], with studies raising concerns about the ethical considerations of ChatGPT [7], evaluation practices [8], scientific integrity [9], and potential negative effects on students’ higher order thinking skills [10].”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
