Fabrication and electroactive responsive behavior of shape–memory nanocomposite incorporated with self-assembled multiwalled carbon nanotube nanopaper
Open accessAbstract
A novel shape–memory nanocomposite that exhibits electrical actuation capabilities was fabricated by incorporating a conductive multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanopaper into shape–memory polymer matrix. The self‐assembled MWCNT nanopaper was made on hydrophilic polycarbonate membrane. This process was based on well‐defined dispersion of the nanosized individual MWCNT and controlled traditional pressure vacuum deposition procedure. The self‐assembled MWCNTs in the nanopaper provided a percolating conductive network with a large interfacial area. It not only offered a high electrical conductivity but also simultaneously enhanced recovery speed by electrically resistive heating, with increasing the content of MWCNT nanopaper in nanocomposite. SMPs can be thermally triggered by indirect heating via Joule effect, infra-red irradiation, or magnetically actuated nanocomposites.
“In addition, SMPs can be thermally-triggered by indirect heating via Joule effect (e.g., PURs enriched with carbon nanotubes) [41,42], infra-red (IR) irradiation (e.g., cellulose nanocrystals filled thermoplastics elastomers) [43] or magnetically actuated nanocomposites [44-46].”

Alignment of the electrical conductive fillers in the polymer matrix not only gives high speed electrical actuation but also facilitates the transfer of heat from the nanopaper to the underlying shape memory polymers.

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
