Abstract

Neuronal identities: Neurons of the mouse spinal cord can be identified by any of several metrics, including what neurotransmitters they use, what cells they connect to, where they are located, and what neuroprogenitor gave rise to them. Osseward et al. generated a different metric, genetic signatures, and identified classes of local and projection neurons that were otherwise heterogeneous by other classification systems. With this focus on a cell's genetic signature, its neurotransmitter phenotype, which is accessible by a variety of transcriptional routes, can be seen as a parallel to convergent evolution in development. Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • Ventral neuron cell types may be organized at a second, nested level of spatial trends that overlay embryonic lineage-defined cell types: a Pou6f2-Esrrg trend along the dorsal-ventral axis and a Nfib-Zfhx3/4 and birthdate trends along the medial-lateral axis.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
