Abstract

monocytes, suggests that, following RPM depletion induced by robust erythrophagocytosis, there is a coordinated effort to restore homeostasis of the RPM population by local self-maintenance and contributions from circulating monocytes. In conclusion, these findings may be clinically relevant to pathological conditions that can arise as a result of increased erythrophagocytosis, such as transfusion-related immunomodulation and impaired host immunity.

  • Under conditions such as immune-driven RBC damage, sickle cell disease or acute hemolysis, the pool of red pulp macrophages in the spleen is dramatically reduced, presumably through apoptosis and iron-induced ROS-mediated ferroptosis.

“Under conditions such as immune-driven RBC damage, sickle cell disease or acute hemolysis, the pool of RPM in the spleen is dramatically reduced, presumably through a combination of programmed (apoptosis) and iron-induced, ROS-mediated cell death (ferroptosis) (Youssef et al., 2018).”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
