Poly(ADP-ribose)–Dependent Regulation of DNA Repair by the Chromatin Remodeling Enzyme ALC1
Open accessAbstract
Damage, Signal, Maneuver: Cellular processes, such as transcription and DNA repair, require modification and manipulation of chromosomally associated proteins by a diverse set of chromatin remodeling complexes. The mechanisms by which cells regulate chromatin remodeling are not completely understood. During the response elicited by DNA damage, the addition of poly(ADP-ribose) to chromatin is associated with chromatin decondensation, which is thought to promote efficient DNA repair. Ahel et al. (p. 1240 , published online 30 July 2009) have identified a chromatin remodeling enzyme as a DNA damage-response protein, which binds poly(ADP-ribose).

“…it is tempting to speculate that this could be through local remo- delling of chromatin to facilitate DNA repair, perhaps in ways similar to those proposed for yeast and other mammalian chromatin remodelling complexes (Park et al, 2006; Ahel et al, 2009; Peng et al, 2009; Sinha et al, 2009).”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
