Atlas of Human Brain Connections

Catani, Marco, Thiebaut de Schotten, Michel·2012·Oxford University Press eBooks

Abstract

This atlas capitalises on novel diffusion MRI tractography methods to provide a comprehensive overview of connections derived from virtual in vivo tractography dissections of the human brain.

Claims the paper makes

This paper’s full text isn’t openly available, so its claims and self-check weren’t run. The registry and citation checks still apply.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • The ground truth data set included association, projection, and commissural tracts that have been previously described using post-mortem anatomical and electrophysiological methods.

“This ground truth data set included association, projection, and commissural tracts that have been previously described using post-mortem anatomical and electrophysiological methods41.”
  • A great many studies clearly distinguish the AF and SLF as distinct entities, both anatomically and functionally.

“A great many studies clearly distinguish the 2 bundles as distinct entities, both anatomically and functionally (56, 59, 70, 71, 75, 76).”
  • The anterior segment of the AF appears to correspond to the SLF III, and the two terms are used interchangeably.

“the anterior segment of the AF appears to somehow correspond to the SLF III, and the two terms are used interchangeably.”
  • Some subcomponents of the AF and SLF overlap as if they each share a subdivision: the SLF III and the anterior segment of the AF.

“some of their subcomponents appear to overlap as if they each share a subdivision: the SLF III and the anterior segment of the AF (Figure 4).”
  • The AF can be divided into three segments (a long, anterior, and posterior segment), each connecting two regions of either Broca, Wernicke, or the territory of Geschwind (inferior parietal lobule).

“this bundle can be divided into three segments (a long, anterior, and posterior segment), each connecting two regions of either Broca, Wernicke, or the territory of Geschwind (inferior parietal lobule).”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
