Guidance Document on Good In Vitro Method Practices (GIVIMP)

OECD·2018·OECD Series on Testing and Assessment

Abstract

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental organisation in which representatives of 36 industrialised countries in North and South America, Europe and the Asia and Pacific region, as well as the European Commission, meet to co-ordinate and harmonise policies, discuss issues of mutual concern, and work together to respond to international problems.Most of the OECD's work is carried out by more than 200 specialised committees and working groups composed of member country delegates.Observers from several countries with special status at the OECD, and from interested international organisations, attend many of the OECD's workshops and other meetings.Committees and working groups are served by the OECD Secretariat, located in Paris, France, which is organised into directorates and divisions.The Environment, Health and Safety Division publishes free-of-charge documents in twelve different series: Testing and Assessment; Good Laboratory Practice and Compliance Monitoring; Pesticides;

Claims the paper makes

This paper’s full text isn’t openly available, so its claims and self-check weren’t run. The registry and citation checks still apply.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • The current testing paradigm for developmental neurotoxicity mainly relies on results from in vivo guideline studies (OECD TG 426 and OECD TG 443 with DNT cohort).

“The current testing paradigm for DNT mainly relies on results on results from in vivo guideline studies (OECD TG 426 (OECD 2007), OECD TG 443 with DNT cohort (OECD 2018a)).”
  • GIVIMP provides guidance for development and implementation of cellular methods generating data for regulatory safety assessment.

“The document provides guidance for development and implementation of cellular methods generating data for regulatory safety assessment.”
  • Even if imaging technologies are not specifically covered, GIVIMP explains other important aspects related to in vitro methods (e.g., facilities, test systems, reference/control items, SOPs).

“Even if imaging technologies are not specifically covered, other important aspects related to in vitro methods (e.g., facilities, test systems, reference/control items, SOPs) are explained.”
  • The Guidance Document on Good In Vitro Method Practices (GIVIMP) was published by OECD in 2018 (OECD 2018b).

“A significant step forward was the publication of the Guidance Document on Good In Vitro Method Practices (GIVIMP) by OECD in 2018 (OECD 2018b).”
  • Serum is a complex mixture of different factors, which introduces undefined constituents within the culture medium; many of these components have not yet been identified, and in several cases, their effects on cell/tissue cultures are still unknown.

“In addition, serum is a complex mixture of different factors, which introduces undefined constituents within the culture medium. Many of these components have not yet been identified, and in several cases, their effects on cell/tissue cultures are still unknown [18, 20].”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
