Abstract

Drug resistant Candida auris infections are recognized by the CDC as an urgent threat. Here, we obtained and characterized a set of clinical isolates of C. auris including multiple isolates from the same patient.

  • In vitro evolution of C. auris during fluconazole exposure is relatively slow compared to C. albicans and mainly composed of SNPs, with aneuploidy a minority effect.

“In vitro evolution during fluconazole exposure is relatively slow, compared to C. albicans, and mainly composed of a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), with aneuploidy a minority effect [135,136].”

From Insight into the Mechanisms and Clinical Relevance of Antifungal Heteroresistance (2025) · cites this paper as [136]

The Discussion (‘Multiple mechanisms of resistance and tolerance’; page unavailable) says most mutations during fluconazole evolution were SNVs and a minority of isolates acquired aneuploidies. It contrasts these mechanisms with those in C. albicans, but does not establish that C. auris evolves more slowly; the Results instead describe rapid acquisition of mutations in C. auris. About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
