Quantum Computations with Cold Trapped Ions

Cirac, J. I., Zoller, P.·1995·Physical Review Letters

Abstract

A quantum computer can be implemented with cold ions confined in a linear trap and interacting with laser beams. Quantum gates involving any pair, triplet, or subset of ions can be realized by coupling the ions through the collective quantized motion. In this system decoherence is negligible, and the measurement (readout of the quantum register) can be carried out with a high efficiency.

  • H2 significantly increases the qubit number and decreases the physical resources per qubit while matching or surpassing the high circuit fidelity of the previous generation system.

“The new machine, Quantinuum System Model H2, significantly increases the qubit number and decreases the physical resources per qubit, all while matching-and in some instances surpassing-the high circuit fidelity of our previous generation system [5].”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
