An Implantable 64-Channel Wireless Microsystem for Single-Unit Neural Recording

Sodagar, Amir M., Perlin, Gayatri E., Yao, Ying, Najafi, Khalil, Wise, Kensall D.·2009·IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits

Abstract

This paper reports an implantable microsystem capable of recording neural activity simultaneously on 64 channels, wirelessly transmitting spike occurrences to an external interface. The microsystem also allows the user to examine the spike waveforms on any channel with 8 bit resolution. Signals are amplified by 60 dB with a programmable bandwidth fromrms. The channel scan rate for spike detection is 62.5 kS/sec using a 2 MHz clock. The system dissipates 14.4 mW at 1.8 V, weighs 275 mg, and measures 1.4 cm 1.55 cm.

This paper’s full text isn’t openly available, so its claims and self-check weren’t run. The registry and citation checks still apply.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • Previous studies using either a symmetrical cascode OTA or a 2-stage Miller OTA reported NEFs ranging from 4 to 17.

“Indeed, previous studies [53, 98, 128], which used either a symmetrical cascode OTA or a 2-stage Miller OTA, reported NEFs ranging from 4 to 17.”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
